Teen Pop (Ages 11-14)

Teen Pop is a beginner-friendly music program designed for tweens and early teens who want to play and sing the pop songs they love. This class focuses on guitar and vocals in a supportive, collaborative environment, giving students the skills to strum, sing, and jam along with their favorite hits — from today’s chart-toppers to timeless pop favorites. Vocals are optional but encouraged!

In each session, students learn the building blocks of guitar playing, including chords, strumming patterns, and basic rhythm, while exploring their voice and how it connects with the music. The class is designed to be approachable for beginners, so no prior experience is necessary — just curiosity, enthusiasm, and a love of music.

Beyond individual skills, Teen Pop emphasizes community and collaboration. Students play and sing together, encouraging teamwork, creativity, and confidence as they learn side by side with peers who share their interests. By the end of the program, students will have a growing repertoire of songs, stronger musical skills, and a fun, supportive group of fellow young musicians to share it with.

Our fall term begins on Mondays (5-6pm) on September 8th, 2025 through the end of November, 2025. Students will take a break in December for the holidays. For returning students there will also be Winter (Jan-Mar) and Spring (April-June) 2026 terms for them to sign up for as well as optional summer workshops!

For any students interested in performing the music they are learning, we have great add on options that are entirely optional. Performance, although extremely valuable, should be something the student chooses to do when they are ready. We have an all ages open mic every 2nd and 4th Sunday on the stage at Rose City Guitar Company for a low pressure environment. We also have both a student Summer Concert (June) and a Winter Concert (December) every year where students are able to sign up to be a part of a full band (guitars, bass, drums etc) and perform at a local venue (The Old Church, Alberta Abbey, Oaks Amusement Park, The Hallowed Halls etc) for friends and family to see!
