This hands-on course is designed for guitarists and bassists who can play basic notes, chords, or riffs but want to understand the why behind the music they are learning and love. Instructor: Samantha E Russell
Instructor Bio: Samantha Russell is a seasoned guitarist, bassist, and songwriter with over 20 years of experience spanning rock, metal, jazz, and classical music. Originally self-taught, she later studied jazz and classical guitar at Portland State University and the University of Arizona. With over a decade of teaching experience, Samantha brings a practical, genre-spanning approach to theory—grounding abstract concepts in real-world playing. Her classes are welcoming, clear, and rooted in helping students truly understand the music they love. Samantha began writing and playing music long before she learned music theory. It intimidated her for a long time and every avenue left her feeling more confused. When she finally received the education she was looking for and began to understand, she made it her mission to teach in a fun and easy to understand method. Music theory can open so many doors and doesn't need to be this scary thing.
